Can Divorce Be Easy?

Divorce and child custody is always an emotional and difficult thing. The good news is that there are ways to make divorces and child custody disputes simpler to make the process go smoother. One of the ways to make your divorce go more smoothly is to discuss any potential issues prior to filing for divorce.

If you and your soon to be ex spouse can agree to Property Division, Division of Debt or Division of marital assets, if you can agree with each other on how those things should be divided, the process will go much more smoothly.

We do not recommend speaking to your soon to be ex spouse after you've retained counsel, however, and we don't suggest that you sign anything or agree to anything in writing. These are merely informal conversations. As for child custody, obviously your children are the most important part of your life and probably also the life of your significant other or soon to be ex significant other. one way to make the child custody process go more smoothly is to again discuss this prior to filing. If you and your soon to be ex can agree on how you want your child to be raised or who your child or children should live with.

It will make the process go more smoothly. Related to child custody is child support. Some people choose to waive friend of the court overseeing child support. Some people choose not to. Whether or not you do, that is something that you need to discuss with your lawyer.

But one thing remains the same if you and your soon to be ex can discuss this prior to filing and work out some of the details before you file. It will make the process go much more smoothly and be much less stressful on all of you, including your children.

And let's be honest, reducing the amount of stress on your children during your divorce is of the utmost importance. If you want your divorce to go more smoothly or if you want your child custody issues to resolve faster, you can talk to your significant other to discuss these matters prior to filing.

Again, we do not recommend that you sign anything or agree to anything in writing, but at least open the door to the conversations so that you all can discuss it and hopefully come to some agreement to make the process go better.
