Shannon Smith

Most people would say that what Shannon Smith does is impossible.

Her clients often come to her in a state of panic. They are nervous about facing the end of their marriage, devastated that they may lose their children and their assets, and sometimes, face the additional stress of fighting false allegations made up by their soon-to-be ex.

But after an impressive legal career throughout the last 15 years, Shannon has her own way of doing things and solid strategies that work for her clients.

“She fought for me every step of the way...Shannon brought a high degree of professionalism to what can be a nasty process.”

For Shannon Smith, there is no “sitting back” in situations where the custody of a child and parenting time are on the line. This is especially true when false allegations of domestic violence, child abuse, or sexual abuse are lodged.

When a child, in particular, claims that an adult has hurt them, all reason goes out the window. In the #MeToo era, many people think all allegations must automatically be “believed.” The attorneys for the accuser are often aggressive and ruthless. These are not cases where you can afford to sit back and let things sort themselves out. This is especially true if police and Child Protective Services become involved with the family.

Instead, Shannon and the Bloomfield Family Law Firm have found success by taking the kind of investigative deep dive that few have the skills and resources for. The firm’s relationship with top experts around the country allows Shannon to provide her clients with the best defense — whether the divorce or legal issue seems simple, or when nasty allegations are made. Years of experience puts the firm 10 steps ahead by already knowing the science and strategies that will successfully disprove the worst allegations that can be made.

Many clients have sought Shannon out in the past, wanting a “strong female lawyer” on their side. What they didn’t realize is that they were getting not only that, but a lawyer who has precise strategies no matter what the case looks like.

Shannon’s ability, creativity, and experience gives her client’s the best offense and defense in any family law case. She has defended more people who have been falsely accused than nearly any lawyer out there after years of trial work and litigation focused on these specialized topics. At the same time, Shannon is known for giving her clients a sense of hope and security that things will get better.

Another difference that sets Shannon apart from most family lawyers is that she’s always ready to fight — in court. Many lawyers focus on resolving cases outside of the courtroom, and when that’s possible, it’s great. However, when cases become particularly nasty, you need a lawyer who is ready for battle, has experience trying cases, can cross-examine any witness, can put expert witnesses on the stand to win your case, and knows her way around a courtroom with her eyes closed. Most lawyers simply can’t do this. They have not been in court trying high stakes cases nearly as often as Shannon.

Over the years, Shannon has not only proven herself to be a successful lawyer, but has also become a leader among lawyers throughout the country.

She frequently speaks at national events. She loves knowing that her work and teaching helps other lawyers defend even more people and helps keep loving parents with their children.

While Shannon has won countless awards and plaques that cover the walls in her office, what matters to her most are the texts of appreciation that show up on her cell phone every Thanksgiving and Christmas from past clients and their families. There is nothing like getting a photo of a parent and child who were once torn apart back together on a holiday. The gratitude for saving her client’s lives and their families keeps Shannon going.

All of these things make her work not only possible, but also bring success to the Bloomfield Family Law Firm, as well. While it may be too much for other lawyers, Shannon’s work is not impossible.
